CHRISTIAN - WE HAVE A PROBLEM!

“And to the angel of the church in Sardis write: ‘The words of him who has the seven spirits of God and the seven stars.

“‘I know your works. You have the reputation of being alive, but you are dead. Wake up, and strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your works complete in the sight of my God. Remember, then, what you received and heard. Keep it, and repent. If you will not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come against you.

Revelation 3:1-3

Sound The Alarm!

I have studied the book of Revelation many many times since the age of nine, and with every reading God shows me something new. I believe that a reading of the seven letters to the seven churches reveals a journey of every Spirit filled Christian. Yes, it is true that the seven churches actually existed at the time that John was charged with writing to them, however, they are all heaps of rubble today. Yet, the warnings to these churches have not become irrelevant heaps of rubble. For a few years, I looked around and began to think that various churches represented one of the churches mentioned in the book of Revelation. However, as I became more involved in ministry, I began to notice that not everyone in a particular church was spiritually in the same place.

True Christians have been filled with the Holy Spirit and are expected to live lives that will point others to Jesus (1 Pet. 2:9) that they might find salvation. We become a part of the kingdom of God and with that, there is great responsibility. We have been bought with a price and our bodies become the Temple of God (1 Cor.6:19-20). Those warnings written in Revelation are now for those of us who have received the Holy Spirit. I believe that we are the Church. Each true believer represents one of the seven churches at various times in their journey. Which one are you?

Jesus told his disciples that the way to true salvation is difficult, and that few would find it (Matt. 7:13-14). James noted that faith without works was dead (Jas. 2:14-26). Christians in the westernized world have been far too comfortable and have cozied up too closely with the secular. The last statistic that I read back in 1993 found that less than 5% of professing Christians ever shared their faith with anyone outside the confines of their small Christian communities. That is abysmal and shows a serious lack of faith in God. Far too many Christians see that what is going on in their spheres of influence is massively perverse yet instead of standing up and doing something about it, they shrink back and say that they will “pray about it.” Others stand behind the belief that the way they live their lives as "good people" will represent the Bible to others. I know plenty of really nice, kind, and very civil Atheists. I am eternally grateful that the first disciples and the prophets of old, did not think that way.

Meanwhile, as the culture continues to become overtly perverse and heretical, the very idea of Jesus the Christ and an omnipotent Creator has drifted off into the sunset in the hearts and minds of the masses. Apathy has gripped the professing Christian and they have become irrelevant bystanders, like the dysfunctional churches found in the book of Revelation. All the while, as people all around them are destined for eternal damnation and our children become the mass casualty as a result.

Yet, God is faithful and is raising a remnant of willing leaders from all walks of life. The remnant is those of us who are willing to risk becoming unpopular in the eyes of those who have been misled by progressive religious leaders or by those who are ignorant and who have traded the God of the Bible for the deceptions of the god of this world. We are the warriors of today. God is always looking for willing leaders to push back the darkness and call out the lies of the deceiver in an effort to save others from certain torment and death. If you trust in the LORD, stand up and be a part of the remnant who will make a difference in the midst of the turmoil.

I would like to create a prayer community for warriors. If you are actively standing for God’s truth in this hostile world, send me an email and let me know what you are doing so that we can all begin to pray for each other. We do not have to use last names - God knows who you are. Please keep an eye out for a new tab on my website where I will begin to list those who are busy doing God’s business by speaking truth into this dark world.

Chose Life by choosing to Trust in God’s faithfulness.
